The end of an era.
The Beginning

You watch as Alec screws up his courage once more. He had been remarkably quick to adapt over the last couple of weeks, but nonetheless, you can't help but worry that he won't be coming back.

You hadn't lied to him, per se; you do know that the back entrance is poorly-guarded, and you have a vague plan that should theoretically work. But your confidence, your reassuring words, the fact that you weren't scrambling to get him back in the car and driving off to Bolivia, these things were all manufactured. On the one hand, this has to work. But if it doesn't, there would be no more smiles for either one of you. And that's a sobering prospect.

On the other hand, he's alive now. His general well-being is a known quantity. And if this plan isn't a good one, you'll be throwing him away for nothing.

So what will you do?
